Count Your Many Blessings (Week 65)

Package from home makes a happy Elder!
Love that smile!!
Well started the week off on Monday running to get home on time and it was raining and well..I fell hahaha, so that was funny! And I ate it right in front of a guy walking on the sidewalk and I was so embarrassed! Then this week, well nothing too new. On Saturday we fasted with Lucero and Alondra so they could get an answer that they need to be baptized and that was good. They are awesome! They have been coming to church every week and going to mutual too!

Spiritual Thought Of The Week
Well this week was kinda hard, but man I am so grateful for hard times! I love having challenges and being able to get closer to my Heavenly Father. I am so grateful for the Plan of Salvation and that I know that God has this perfect plan made for me, so one day I can return to live with him and my family forever! In my study journal there is a part in the back that is a gratitude journal and I love it! How important is it to be grateful! Whenever I have hard times I start thinking about the blessings that God has given me and it makes me feel a lot better. Like the Hymn “Count Your Blessings” says “when you are discouraged thinking all is lost, count your many blessings name them one by one and it will surprise you what the Lord has done” this is one of my favorite Hymns and I know it is true. It is very important that we are grateful for what we have and that we always remember the promises that the Lord has made with us! I love you all and am very grateful for every one of you and I hope that tonight you can count your many blessings and name them one by one! I promise you will feel a lot of joy and you will feel a lot better!

It's Great Being a Missionary (Week 64)

Another great week in the work! This week my comp and I have been really focused on Preach My Gospel and wow it is an amazing guide. Our investigators are progressing really well and we are hoping for a couple baptisms real soon! Lucero and Alondra are 2 teenagers that are awesome and already seem comfortable in the church. But the only problema is that their mom is really Catholic, and well, she gave them permission to get baptized, but they feel like they are letting her down kinda. But they are great. Then also yesterday we had a lesson with Omar and he is so cool. He has been going to church for a while now, but yesterday he told us that he finally received his answer and he started crying, it was really cool and a good spiritual momento. So we are very happy for him!

Spiritual Thought Of The Week
Well this week I was reading a talk and I loved it! It talked about how we as missionaries (and members too) must be worthy. We must be worthy of the Holy Ghost so that he can guide us in all things. Using the scripture in Helaman 4:24 that the Spirit of the Lord does not dwell in unholy temples. For us to have the spirit we must repent. We, as disciples of Jesus Christ, must be repenting everyday so we can be worthy of the divine companionship of the Holy Ghost. And when we have the Holy Ghost we know that we are worthy and repented. D&C 97:8 “Verily I say unto you, all among them who know their hearts are honest, and are broken, and their spirits contrite, and are willing to observe their covenants by sacrifice-yea, every sacrifice which I the Lord shall command-they are accepted of me." We should strive everyday to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost to guide us, comfort us, and to give us joy! I love you all and hope you all are becoming closer to Christ everyday, repenting, and following the spirit! Que tengan una bonita semana!

The Lord is Hastening His Work (Week 63)

What a great weekend of General Conference. Also...we got to see Coco! The 70 wanted all the missionaries to see it so we could use it in our teaching. Man what a great movie! It was really cool comparing it to the góspel truths we know. It shows how there is a spirit world, a Paradise where they are happy and remembered and a spiritual prison where they are getting forgotten. It shows us the great importance we have to do family history and temple work. And one of the most important is that families can be together forever! I loved the movie, it was great! And I will use it a lot here on my misión. Also General Conference, wow! A lot of changes. I love how the Lord is hastening his work in its time. Man I love being a part of the true church of Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Thought Of The Week
Where do I start. I guess I’d just like to share some parts of the conference that called my attention. I liked the talk by Lynn G. Robins that talked a little about failure. Failure is a key ingredient to success. He used some examples, like when someone is learning something new, like playing the piano and learning a language, they mess up a lot. It is part of learning. He talked about how when we fail we must not lose enthusiasm, and that is so important in this life! When we fail we must repent and not lose the enthusiasm, we must understand that failure is not the end and it is part of our progress. I also really liked Larry Y. Wilsons talk about the typhoon and how the man prayed and asked what he could do instead of a normal prayer that we usually do and just ask God to fix it all. This example made me think a lot about how we are really instruments in the Lords hands and must act for him sometimes. Many times we can be the answer to someones prayer and God works miracles through us. But many times we also just pray that God will do it all or that someone else will do it. And our great Prophet Russell M. Nelson talked about personal revelation. Something that really stuck out to me was that after we pray and look for guidance we need to give time to listen to our Father, and even write down answers we receive. Thats something I want to start doing! Writing down my revelation more so I can be an instrument in the Lords hands and act. There were so many great talks and I can’t wait to study them more and apply them in my life! I hope you all had a chance to see conference and receive revelation. We are so blessed to have a Prophet in these days to guide and lead us. Our Prophet knows the way back to our Heavenly Father, we must follow him! I love this church so much! I love our dear Prophet Russell M. Nelson and every Messenger that God has sent us to guide us towards Him! I love the misión and I love life! Have a great week and remember to apply what the Prophets and Apostles have taught us in your lives!

Shoot for the Stars (Week 62)

Another great week down. This week was really fun! Monday night we were walking and there was a drunk guy on the sidewalk and he asked us if he could change. We went and sat by his side and started talking about Jesus Christ. It was kinda sad cause he was saying some crazy stuff and he doesn’t have the same knowledge as we do in Jesus Christ. So we testified to him a lot but he was really drunk, haha. And turns out right before we got there he said a prayer and asked God to send him help, and then we showed up! Then the next day we went to visit him and he didn’t think we really were gonna come, haha. So we talked to him and he committed to go to church with us! Then Saturday we went to visit him again and he said he wasn’t going to change.. So that was really sad and disappointing. Some people just aren’t willing to give up worldly things for eternal things. It makes me sad. Then we had a great Zone Conference and we focused a lot on faith. I remembered a quote I tweeted back in the day that I like a lot “Shoot for the stars and if you miss you’ll get to the moon”. We are gonna be working on our faith to see more miracles in missionary work here in Prados. This Sunday was good, we had a lot at church! There are a couple that are progressing really well so we will be hoping for some baptisms in April!

Spiritual Thought Of The Week
This week I was able to increase my faith and really see the Lord help us in his work. There is a scripture in 2 Nefph 32:9 “But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul.” As I have set daily, weekly and monthly goals in my misión and prayed to our Heavenly Father to help me, I have seen that if it is His will He answers my prayers and helps me achieve what I need to. It is so important that we counsel with God. A lot of times in our lives we have questions, or we want help making a decisións and, a lot of times, we forget to ask God what He thinks. I also love the scriptures in Alma 37:37-47 Our Heavenly Father is always waiting for us to talk to Him and to ask Him so that He can bless us, we just have to ask! It’s easier than we think sometimes. The power of faithful prayer is incredible. I know that God answers our prayers and helps us when we let Him. Sometimes we are the ones making it so that He can’t help us because we forget to pray and ask Him. I know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ, I know because it makes me SO happy and feel so loved. I know that we have a loving Father that is all powerful and wants to help us. Prayer has been so important in my life and I love being able to communicate with my Father in Heaven. Sharing this góspel makes me so happy! I love being a missionary so much! I know that Jesus is the Christ, the Redeemer and Savior of the world! And my best friend. J I love you all, thanks for all the support! Remember to do simple better!

Short n Sweet (Week 61)

Elder Passeri and Elder Herman

Well first week of transfers has been good and busy! Another companionship of Elders came into our area so we are now sharing it. It's kinda nice cause our area was pretty big. One of the Elders is training someone from Alaska so that’s cool. It has made me remember when I first got here and didn’t know what was going on, haha. But it has been a good week of learning and growing closer to my Savior.

Spiritual Thought Of The Week

Well this week we had a Leadership Conference and we talked a little about faith. I liked it a lot. Faith is a power that we should take advantage of. God works through faith and when we have sufficient faith God can work miracles in our lives. We have trials and tests in our lives to test our faith and to see if we stay strong. The world attacks us in so many ways so that we lose our faith. We must strengthen our faith daily by reading the scriptures and talking to our Heavenly Father. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He can work the same miracles He did in the Bible and the Book of Mormon if we can have enough faith! I love you all, have a good week!

Life's Good (still/again) (Week 60)

Fiestas De San Juan De Dios in Tultepec, fireworks capital of Mexico.
It's an annual pyrotechnic celebration and burning of the bulls.

Another week down in Mexico! This week was kinda crazy and we spent a lot of it doing studies with other missionaries and helping them out a little. Well tomorrow are transfers and Elder Passeri and I are staying together another transfer in Tultepec! So That’s good. I am excited about that. The Zone is going to change a lot. Well honestly not too much happened this week.

 Spiritual Thought Of The Week
This week I could bare my testimony a lot about the atonement of Jesus Christ. Honestly, if we understand the atonement everything in life is easier. I love knowing that I have a big brother that has made my burdens lighter and that I am never alone. I love being able to testify to others that don’t have the same knowledge. It truly is a huge blessing to know of the restored góspel of Jesus Christ and to have been able to obtain a testimony of these things and know without a doubt that they are true. But the best part of all is being able to live what I preach and see the difference it makes in my life. I love you all and hope you are all living up the life that God has given us!

Milagros de Tultepec (Week 59)

Elder Herman and his Minions.  : )
Wow what a great week! This week we really focused on just making people happy. As we focused on yelling at everyone “GOOD AFTERNOON!” in the Street and giving them a big ol smile and see them later give us a big ol smile back really made me happy. It makes me sad seeing people not happy so seeing people smile has made this week a really joyful week! We had some amazing lessons this week and saw great miracles. Last week we had fasted to have people come to church. This week we saw the fruits. Saturday night we even forgot to remind everyone to go to church and Sunday morning we went to pick some investigators up, but they weren’t there...So we got to church with not too many hopes, but boom there was the family we went for, already in church waiting for us! And then people just kept on showing up. Elder Passeri and I were so excited and kinda mind blown at how many people showed up! I know that this is the Lords work and when we put in our part He puts in His. Also this last week has been kinda crazy here in Tultepec and this week will be crazier! They have a big festival with a ton of Fireworks and big bulls that they make. It's nuts. Tultepec is known for its Fireworks haha you can look it up, its crazy!

Spiritual Thought Of The Week
This week I’d like to talk about the First Presidency Message of February about always remembering Him. I like the points it has. I like to think of these points as things we need to do while we are participating in the Sacrament. First, remember Jesus Christ. Why? Why is it important that we remember Him? Well His is the great example in everything. He’s God's son and perfect. We must strive to be like Him so we must remember and know how He was. Then Remember What You Need To Do Better. It is a time of repentance. We must realize our errors so that we can overcome them. So that we can become more like Christ. As we do this we can be forgiven of our sins. Then lastly, Remember The Progress You Are Making. I saw the importance of seeing the progress we make when I started the misión. When times got tough it helped me realize that those hard times helped me progress. We shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves. When we see progress in ourselves we see the atonement more in our lives. We also can be more happy because we realize where we are now and how much we have progressed. This is our purpose in this life. Be tested and progress! Every Sunday we have such a great opportunity to take the sacrament and remember Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for the time I have to reflect on my life in sacrament meeting. I love this Gospel and it has made me so happy. I love sharing this joy with others and seeing the change in their lives as they live it also. This is the true church of Jesus Christ! I love you all, have a great week!
